Apple Releases iOS 27.2 Featuring Expanded Siri AI Languages and Security Updates

Apple Releases iOS 27.2 with Siri AI and Security Fixes

Apple officially released the new iOS 27.2 software for iPhone and iPad devices. The update brings broader language capabilities and upgraded memory tools to Siri AI. It also introduces messaging recommendations alongside Apple Pencil functionality for the foldable iPhone Duo.

Siri AI now accommodates French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish during its beta phase. The upgraded virtual assistant retains context from previous interactions to deliver tailored answers. Building AI that remembers personal settings remains a core objective for industry leaders. Companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google are similarly sharpening their assistants’ recall abilities.

Siri can pull information directly from various native tools to supply precise responses. It accesses photos attached in Messages, calendar guest lists, voicemails, Safari history, and saved reading lists. Users can customize their privacy options by blocking specific apps from Siri’s memory bank.

Early adopters of the foldable iPhone Duo reported screen display concerns. Despite this, Apple added extra feature support for the hardware in this release. iOS 27.2 enables Apple Pencil compatibility on the foldable display within Notes and Preview. Users can also activate an Edge Light effect to brighten their face on video calls.

The software upgrade introduces several enhancements for FaceTime conversations. A Dual Capture mode lets users stream front and rear camera feeds at the same time in group chats. People can also invite external sign language interpreters or live captioners directly into active calls.

The system now scans texts to recommend turning messages into reminders or calendar entries. Shared Albums now allow members to modify captions and insert custom comments. The interface also displays expiration alerts for shared folders.

Apple updated the native Podcast application layout. The revamped app highlights recent releases from followed shows and tracks ongoing audio playback.

A new Multiview option comes to the iPhone for sports enthusiasts. Viewers can stream up to four live events at once through Apple TV. Supported broadcasts include Major League Soccer, American Formula 1 coverage, and Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders from Major League Baseball. Racing fans can also switch between several simultaneous F1 camera angles.

Apple resolved more than 160 security vulnerabilities within the release documentation. The team backported numerous fixes so users on older iOS 26 software remain protected. Apple reports that roughly 80% of active iPhone users are currently using iOS 26.

Additionally, Apple delivered a critical security patch to devices running iOS 18, which launched in 2024. The company noted the vulnerability may have been targeted in advanced exploits against selected individuals on older software.

Apple traditionally applies this phrasing when addressing state-sponsored spyware or law enforcement digital extraction tools. The company did not share further details regarding the specific actors involved in the exploit.
