Meta is expanding its artificial intelligence strategy beyond AI agents. CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that the company’s goal is to supply companies with a wider range of AI tools and services while earning money from sources other than advertising.

Zuckerberg made the statement during Meta’s second-quarter earnings call, stating that the business sees a significant opportunity in the expanding enterprise AI sector.

Meta Plans to Offer AI Tools for Businesses

Meta has introduced AI agents that assist businesses with handling daily chores across messaging apps, providing customer service, and responding to inquiries. Instead of depending solely on human employees, these solutions enable businesses to interact with clients using artificial intelligence.

According to Zuckerberg, this is only the beginning. Meta also plans to offer AI application programming interfaces (APIs), business software, computing power, and other enterprise services.

Existing Advertisers Will Be the First Focus

According to Meta, the millions of companies that currently run advertising on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp will be its first target. The startup thinks AI agents can help these companies boost sales and provide better customer service.

Zuckerberg explained that Meta expects to earn money in a similar way to its advertising business by charging businesses when its AI tools deliver successful results.

Meta Could Sell Its Internal AI Technology

The company is also considering offering some of the AI tools it has built for its own employees. These include coding assistants, productivity tools, and software development systems that could eventually become products for both small and large businesses.

Zuckerberg admitted that selling software directly to businesses is different from Meta’s traditional advertising business, but he believes it represents a major growth opportunity.

Compute Services May Become Another Business

Furthermore, Meta is looking into the prospect of selling computing power to business clients. Zuckerberg stated that the corporation will not sell all of its available computing power to prioritize short-term earnings.

Rather, Meta intends to maintain enough processing power to fulfill its long-term AI objectives, including cutting-edge AI-powered smart glasses and personal AI assistants.

Beyond enterprise services, Meta plans to continue using AI to build new consumer products. The company has already launched AI-powered tools for Marketplace sellers, Facebook Groups, and game creation, with more applications expected in the future.

Zuckerberg believes AI will make it much faster for Meta to develop and launch new apps, allowing the company to quickly test new ideas and deliver them to users who are most likely to enjoy them.
