The federal government is moving forward with plans to digitize coordination and oversight across ministries. The initiative will use artificial intelligence to improve transparency, accountability, and public service delivery.
During a recent briefing, officials introduced a sovereign AI-powered research tool developed by the Pakistan Digital Authority. The GPT-based system is designed to support government research and decision-making. It can quickly access past directives, official orders, and policy records, helping officials find information more efficiently.
Officials also demonstrated the Prime Minister’s Office System (PMOS). They said the platform would allow the Prime Minister’s Office to send directives instantly to ministries and departments. It will also help decision-makers track progress and monitor performance through a single digital dashboard.
The system includes an automated alert feature. It sends pop-up notifications to federal secretaries and other officials when assigned tasks remain incomplete after their deadlines. Officials believe this will improve follow-up and ensure government instructions are implemented on time.

According to the Pakistan Digital Authority, the GPT-powered tool will act as a virtual assistant for government officers. It is designed to understand official procedures and workflows. The AI assistant will help officers complete tasks more efficiently, improving productivity and service delivery across departments.
Federal Minister for Establishment Ahad Khan Cheema praised the development of the platform. He directed stakeholders to further improve the system before its wider launch.
Cheema said Pakistan is steadily moving toward an AI-driven model of digital governance. He added that PMOS would support the National Digital Masterplan by improving coordination between ministries and expanding digital integration across government institutions.
He also said citizen-focused services, including those offered through Asan Khidmat Markaz and other digital platforms, would benefit from a more connected government system. Technology-based solutions, such as digital tax enforcement tools, will continue to expand as part of efforts to build a more responsive and accountable public sector.
