Scholarships from USAID for Students Affected by the Flood

The infrastructure and way of life of millions of people in Pakistan were severely damaged by the floods last year, which were unprecedented. Students at universities in flood-affected areas are on the point of quitting their studies since there aren’t enough financial means to support them.

As a result, USAID introduced a merit- and need-based scholarship program in 2004 that awards financial aid to students from low-income families. For two semesters, the program will fund scholarships to help flood-affected students at thirty partner universities who are struggling financially.

​Eligibility

• Student must be enrolled in a four- or five-year undergraduate degree program in Fall 2023 during the 2^nd,3^rd, 4^th,5^th,6^th, or  7^th semester.
• All fields of study and topics are open.
• Must be a resident of one of the affected districts, sub-districts, or UC Tehsils as determined by the Pakistani government, the PDMA, or the district administration.
• Describe any evidence of flood damage, such as a damaged home or lost income. Internet-downloaded fake images will be rejected.
• The Institutional Scholarship Award Committee of the University will conduct interviews with the shortlisted candidates in order to determine whether to offer them financial aid.
• 50% of scholarships are reserved for females.​

Scholarship Coverage

• Tuition for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters.
• Stipend for two semesters including board, lodging, transportation, and other educational costs.

How to Apply

• Students must submit their applications using the HEC Online Application System.
• Send a printout of your application and any supporting paperwork to the university’s student financial aid office.
• Forms that are incomplete won’t be accepted.

Deadline

The deadline to submit an online application is August 16, 2023.

• Note
  Scholarships will be awarded exclusively on the basis of merit, however, HEC has the right to revoke the scholarship if physical verification reveals that the applicant’s information was false or incomplete.
• Admissions obtained on a self-support, self-finance, or self-sustain basis are not eligible, nor are admissions to evening programs with higher tuition costs, two-year bachelor’s, associate’s, or lateral degree programs.
• Students who have received a scholarship or continuing grant in the past are ineligible.
• Only two semesters of scholarship funding will be available.
